Identification
The species reaches 16 cm in length. Triangle-shaped body with short snout. Face covered with vertical red-brown and yellow bands. Dark grey flanks with yellow chevron-shaped markings. Triangle-shaped yellow lines on dark tail.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indian Ocean, from East Africa to the Andaman islands, east to Java, Sumatra and Bali. Lives in clear water areas of fringing reefs, from 3 to 15 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a fairly large range and its dependence to Acropora corals could be a threat with coral reef destruction on the long term.
