Identification
Adults can reach 15 cm in length. Coloration mostly dull beige to olive-beige on flanks, browner on back fourth of body. Yellow-orange caudal fin, white edges to dorsal and anal fins. Brown forehead, grey head and dull orange gill coverts.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the north-western Pacific Ocean, from Japan and Korea to extreme north Philippines. Lives in shallow rocky reefs, from 5 to 30 meters deep.
