Identification
The species grows to 20 cm in length. Oval-shaped body with thick lips. Coloration light bluish-grey with thick curving black lines on and around flanks. Yellow fins with black band. Yellow face with two vertical black bands, grey forehead.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from East Africa to Line Islands and Galapagos Islands, north to south Japan, south to Great Barrier Reef. Lives in areas of rich coral growth in lagoons and seaward reefs, to 30 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a very large range. It is totally dependent on corals for its survival and habitat loss could become a major threat.
