Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 12.5 cm. Body laterally compressed and round in shape with not so protruding snout. Sides light violet-white with clear dots on scales. Fins and body edges yellow, two orange bands near head.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Western Australia to the Great Barrier Reef, New Guinea and maybe parts of Melanesia. Lives in coastal and inner coral reefs, also near estuaries, from 5 to 15 meters deep.

Status : The species has a fairly large range but its dependence on corals for its daily dietary requirements makes it very vulnerable in the short term.
