Identification
Snout slightly elongated with protruding upper lip, big yellow eyes. Coloration from mottled beige-brown with dark dots to nearly black with long and broad dorsal fin. Blue dots on head.

Range and habitat
Western Atlantic Ocean, from Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Gulf of Mexico to northern South America. Found around clear water habitats, in rocky and coral reefs with holes available.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species can tolerate habitat modifications as long as enough holes remain for its security. Not known to be facing any threats at this time, widespread.
