Identification
Adults can reach 38 cm in length. Elongated round tips to dorsal and anal fins. Flanks dark blue with broad yellow edges to each flank scales. Yellow fins, black blotch on dorsal fin. Blue vermiculations on face, yellow forehead, black cap.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Maldives to Vanuatu, north to Palau and south Japan, south to north Australia. Lives in coral-rich areas of lagoons and outer reef slopes, from 5 to 30 meters deep.

Status : The species has a wide range and seems to be quite common. It is collected for the trade but this isn’t believed to be a threat.
