Identification
Adults can grow to 33 cm in length. Dorsal and anal fins without extensions. Flank coloration black-brown with alternating thick and thin white bands. Tail bright yellow. Face brown with blue and white intricate lines. Throat lighter.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Indian Ocean, from most of East African coasts to South Africa, Madagascar, Comoros, Seychelles. Lives in coral-rich reefs, down to 25 meters deep.

Status : The species is common within its range and doesn’t seem to be facing any threats at this time.
