Identification
The species grows to 45 cm in length. Adults have dark grey head with two blue lines, rest of body yellowish-olive with curved thick blue lines on flanks. Fins dark with thin blue lines except for white caudal fin. Blue circle marking on flanks.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from India and Maldives to New Caledonia, north to south Japan, south to Australia. Lives in coastal reefs, harbors, often in murky waters, to 60 meters deep.

Status : The species has a wide range and seems to be fairly common. There are no known threats to its survival at this time.
