Identification
The species grows to 12 cm in length. Head is grey with orange eye-ring and orange base of pectoral fins. Flanks are dirty white with distinct pearly-white spots on each scales. Rear third of body and fins is black with blue fin edges.
Range and habitat
This species is found in the western Pacific Ocean, from Christmas Islands and Bali to Marshall Islands, north to South Japan, south to Lord Howe Island. Lives in lagoons and seaward reefs, in coral rich areas, down to 25 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a very large range and remains fairly common. Collection for the aquarium trade doesn’t seem to impact the species at this point.
