Identification
Adults grow to 12 cm in length, making it one of the largest species of the genus. Yellow face with blue-violet mask. Lower half of flanks is bright yellow, upper half and back of body dark blue-violet with bright blue lines on fins.

Range and habitat
This species is found in the western Pacific Ocean, from Japan and Taiwan to the Philippines. Lives in steep outer reef slopes, often in caves, from 10 to 40 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a small range but isn’t impacted by collection for local and international trade at this time. Its habitat seems safe for now.
