Identification
Small angelfish species reachin up to 10 cm in length. Unmistakable. Entire body covered with vertical and curving dark blue lines. Head, first third of body and upper back bright orange, rest of body nearly black. Yellow pectoral fins.

Range and habitat
This species is only known from eastern Central Pacific ocean where it occurs around Johnston and Hawaiian islands. Lives in seaward reefs in rocky rubble and coral areas, down to 138 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a very small range and is often collected for the aquarium trade but numbers captured don’t impact wild population so far.
