Identification
The species grows to 10 cm in length. Upper half of body olive to brown, lower half of body orange-red, duller head. Whole flanks covered with vertical black lines, often broken as dots and dashes. Dorsal and anal fins with blue edges.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Tanabe Bay in south Japan to Taiwan and north Philippines. Lives in seaward rocky reefs and rubble areas, from 6 to 30 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species doesn’t have a big range but seems to remain relatively common in the wild and not affected by the collection for aquarium trade.
