Identification
One of the smallest species of its genus, reaching 11 cm. Cylindrical body, elongated snout. Small barbels around mouth. Coloration silvery yellow to yellow-green with black spots and lines giving a “military camouflage” aspect.

Range and habitat
The species is found in south-Central Asia, from Pakistan to India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Lives in small streams and creeks with rocky or gravely bottom.

Status : The species is apparently fairly common but could suffer from water pollution and other effects of humane activities.
