Identification
Adults can grow to 25 cm in length. Long cylindrical body with elongated face and big eyes. Coloration is light beige (almost translucent) with spots, dots and sometimes even wavy lines on the upper half of flanks.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-East Asia, primarily in Malaysia and on Borneo, Java and Sumatra. Status in Cambodia and Thailand uncertain. Lives in tropical rivers with muddy and sandy bottoms.

Status : The species seems to have a wide range and remains unthreatened so far despite freshwater pollution. Its taxonomic status is unclear.
