Identification
The species can reach up to 12 cm in length. Back slightly humped large triangular dorsal fin. Coloration dark grey-black, often with clearer belly. All fins dark grey-black except from bright red caudal peduncle and tail fin.
Range and habitat
The species is native to southeast Asia and is endemic to Thailand, occurring in the Chao Phraya river basin. Occurrence in Bangpakong and Mae Khlong unsure. Lives in lowland streams over rocky and sand gravel bottoms.

Status : The species was long considered to be extinct in the wild because of unsustainable collection for the trade but it still persists in a single location.
