Identification
The species grows to 11,5 cm in length. Fairly flat back profile, blunt head. Coloration grey (nearly translucent) with one broad longitudinal black line from mouth to tail and two smaller lines. Species with two black spots on tail fin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western Africa and is found from coastal Benin to Nigeria (possibly in nearby Cameroon), east to the Cross river. Lives in lowland rivers and freshwater lagoons between rivers.

Status : This species has a fairly large range with no known threats. So far it remains common despite collection for the trade.
