Identification
The species can grow to 23 cm in length. Females have tail shorter than body, males have tail longer than body. Warty skin. Back and flanks olive to dark yellow with darker mottling. Belly yellowish with black markings. Ribs not protruding.
Range and habitat
The species is found in northern Africa, in most of northern Algeria (except Edough Peninsula) and Tunisia. Found in slow-moving rivers, lakes and marshes, up to 1600 meters

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a very small range that is now fragmented with habitat degradation being a major problem in significant areas like north Algeria.
