Identification
Adults can grow to 14 cm in total length, males being slightly bigger than females. Flattened head with large mouth and thick lips, slender body and flattened tail. Coloration beige to light grey with dark blotches, reddish line on back.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Europe and is endemic to Sardinia island (Italy), being found in the eastern part, from Limbara mountains to Sette Fratelli mountains. Lives in cave systems, montane woodlands and river scrub, up to 1800 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a very small range and many of its populations are on the brink of extinction because of habitat loss, pollution and chytridiomycosis.
