Notes : No subspecies known. Sometimes placed in genus Hylarana.
Identification
Adults can reach a total length of nearly 10 cm, females being bigger than males. Head is flattened and triangular with long snout. Beige coloration with clear bands on sides of back. Flanks are brown and dark beige with black spots.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in south-east Asia, in north Vietnam, south and south-central China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Lives in pools, rice fields, slow moving rivers and adjacent grasslands, up to 1100.

Status : The species has a large range and remains locally common, especially in Vietnam. Declining in China because of over-collection and habitat loss.
