Identification
Adults can reach a length of 4.4 cm, females being bigger than males. Unmistakable. Very short head, round-shaped body. Coloration red and green on back, pearly white on flanks with black bands and wavy lines all over body.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to the Island of Madagascar and occurs in the south-western part of the country, in the northern positions of Isalo massif. Lives in rocky areas and canyons with humid or dry vegetation.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species has a very small range and keeps declining because of loss of habitat and capture of adult specimens for international trade.
