Identification
Adults can reach up to 9 cm in length. Skin folds forming ridges on each flanks. Elongated triangular snout. Coloration green on back, brown on flanks and head. Black to dark brown rounded spots on back and flanks.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-eastern USA, from southern New York to Florida (including Keys Islands), east to Texas. Introduced in Bahamas. The species is mostly active at night, spending the day amongst stones in shallow waters. Feeds on all kinds of small invertebrates. Eggs are laid underwater.

Status : The species isn’t considered threatened. It has a large range and remains common in many areas, including protected areas.
