Identification
Large frog reaching a length of slightly more than 10 cm. Bulky body, wide head with large mouth and big eyes. Skin smooth. Ground coloration is creamy-white with dark-edged reddish-brown blotches on all body, including legs.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Gran Chaco area of South America, from Bolivia and Paraguay to north Argentina. Lives in open areas of dry woodlands and grasslands known as chaco, to 300 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is still common in Bolivia and Paraguay but has been declining alarmingly in Argentina because of unsustainable hunting for food.
