Identification
Large tree frog reaching up to 10 cm in length. Very large eyes. Coloration is dark brown with two large grey-green blotches on flanks, a similar blotch on head and grey-green bands on legs, often mixed with darker spots.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, in the Amazonian area from south-east Colombia, Guianas and Suriname to most of central Brazil, south to Bolivia. Lives in tropical primary rainforests and flooded forests, up to 450 m.

Status : The species depends on forests for its survival so it could be vulnerable to habitat loss. It is rarely recorded in the wild.
