Notes : No subspecies known. Sometimes placed in genus Nyctixalus.
Identification
Adults can reach up to 4 cm in length, usually less. Skin covered with very small warts, long snout. Coloration dark red to orange with white spots on flanks, limbs, snout and eyebrows (made of clusters of larger warts). Silvery eyes.
Range and habitat
The species is found in South-east Asia and is endemic to Java, in Indonesia, occurring in two distinct populations, in west and central-east sides of the Island. Lives in highland forests and plantations with canopy cover, from 700 to 1500 m.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is naturally rare and was rediscovered in 1992. It has a small range and its populations are decreasing because of habitat loss.
