Identification
One of the largest toad species, reaching up to 23 cm in length. Bony ridge on snout and very large glands on sides of head. Warty skin. Coloration brownish-olive with black cap on warts. Belly is yellowish with black spotting.

Range and habitat
The species occurs from the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas and north Mexico to south-central Brazil and Peru. Introduced in USA, Caribbean and Australia. Lives in tropical dry and humid forests with permanent water nearby, to 3000 m.

Status : The species has a large range and can tolerate some degree of habitat modification. It has been introduced in many places and is treated as a pest.
