Identification
Adults can reach up to 8 cm in length, usually less. Strong and elongated limbs. Dark beige to yellow eyes with horizontal pupil. Males of Rentapia toads are difficult to tell apart but females of this species have broad flattened head, large eyes and a purplish-brown back coloration with more or less distinct yellow lines around their back.

Range and habitat
The species is found in South-East Asia, and is likely endemic to Borneo, found mostly in Sarawak and nearby Kalimantan. Sumatran population needs to be investigated. Lives in lowlands, in forests and dense vegetation near streams and rivers.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species remains common to locally abundant in many parts of its range but is potentially threatened by river edges transformation and alteration. Since the species’s splitting, it is likely that this species is less safe than previously thought.
