Identification
Adults can grow to about 15 cm in length. Wide head with blunt snout and large mouth. Protruding orange to yellow eyes, horizontal pupil. Skin is wrinkly and warty. Coloration varies from light beige to dark brown, with irregular spots.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in Europe and western Asia, from France and Great Britain to central and eastern Europe, east to Ukraine and north-east Turkey. Lives in mixed forests, woodlands, grasslands, parks and gardens, to 3000 m.

Status : The species isn’t believed to be threatened as it has a large range and remains relatively common. It can thrive in modified habitats with damp areas.
