Identification
Adults can grow to around 4 cm in length. Body is flattened and snout is elongated and triangular. This subspecies is black with intricate network of yellow lines forming reticulations on flanks, back and legs. Belly whitish-yellow.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in most of the Guianas and adjacent north Brazil. The other subspecies is endemic to west Suriname. It lives in humid rainforests, never far from water, on leaf litter.

Status : The species has yet to be assessed by itself. It was previously lumped with A. spumarius which is listed as Vulnerable because of chytridomycosis.
