Identification
Adults can reach up to 3.1 cm in length, females being bigger than males. Lower flanks and limbs are turquoise with black dotting. Rest of body is black with two broad orange lines starting from snout and running on each sides of back.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Central America, in south-western Costa Rica (Golfo Dulce area, Provinca de Puntarenas) and nearby south-western Panama. Lives near streams in primary lowland wet forests.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species has a small range and its population is now very fragmented. It is still vulnerable to overcollection and habitat loss.
