Identification
Small species reaching 2.7 cm in length, females slightly bigger than males. Ground coloration of adults is bright red with blue to yellow longitudinal stripes on back and flanks. Legs feature clear spots. Some specimens are more yellow.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, west of the Andes, in south-western Ecuador (El Oro, Azuay, Loja provinces) and north-western Peru. Lives in equatorial dry forests close to rivers, with abundant leaf litter.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is still locally common but has a small range and its habitat is being cleared rapidly. It could be uplisted to Vulnerable soon.
