Identification
Large species reaching up to 5.5 cm in length, quite variable in coloration. Black ground coloration with three broad longitudinal blue-green to bright yellow stripes on back. Stripes can also be thin and broken, back can be fully yellow.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from southern Venezuela, Guianas and Suriname to northern Brazil, Colombia, Peru and eastern Bolivia. Lives in primary and secondary tropical rainforests, on forest floor.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species remains safe and has a very large range. It is vulnerable to deforestation and is caught for international trade at low levels.
