Identification
Adults can reach up to 8.5 cm in length with females being nearly twice as large as males. Large eyes. Juveniles are green with black dots. Adults are mottled beige-brown with dark green markings and a green triangle on back.

Range and habitat
The species is found in eastern Africa and is endemic to Tanzania. It only occurs in mountain ranges in the eastern part of the country. Lives in most forested habitats, also man-made ponds, up to 1800 m.

Status : The species remains locally common but its range is highly fragmented and the species is declining alarmingly because of habitat loss.
