Identification
The species can grow to a body length of 17 cm. Long snout, bulky body with long limbs. Large ear-drums, blue vocal sacs. Skin with many folds but few warts. Coloration is yellow with dark blotches on back and uniformly yellow on belly.
Range and habitat
The species is found in south-central Asia, from northern Pakistan and nearby Afghanistan to most of India, Nepal and west Myanmar. Introduced in Madagascar. Lives in lowland wet areas in pools, ponds, marshes, paddy fields, to 2000 m.

Status : The species remains globally common throughout its range despite being locally overcaptured for the trade amongst other potential threats.
