Identification
Adults can reach a length of 18 cm for a weight of 113 g. Female is bigger than male. Bright yellow legs, round-shaped body. Plumage brown with grey, black and chestnut mottling. Chestnut throat, black spots on flanks, white belly.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from Myanmar to Indochina and south Thailand, north to Northern China. Species also occurs from Pakistan to India and Andaman Islands. Lives in grasslands, scrublands and cultivated areas, up to 2150 meters.

Status : This species is very common in some parts of its range, less so in Russia, Korea and India. Preference for cultivated areas helps species future for now.
