Identification
Total length of 25 cm for a weight of 75 g. Head dark blue with black cheeks, Bright green wings with black and white markings, grey-white breast, bright red belly and undertail. Black and white graduated tail. Red and black bill.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Cuba and also occurs on small cays north of Cuba and on the Isle of Pines. Lives in wet and dry forests, often near rivers and in montane areas.

Status : The species is common and widespread in Cuba and present in protected areas. Rarer on the Isle of Pines.
