Identification
Total length of 12.5 cm. Long and slightly decurved black bill. Belly, wings and tail shiny black. Head and breast metallic green (only visible from a particular angle). Lower breast has a dark purple-blue band.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Caribbean islands of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and the Antilles. Other subspecies endemic to Grenada. Lives mostly in woodlands, shrublands, forests and cultivated areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has a very restricted range but remains globally common especially in Guadeloupe where it’s abundant.
