Identification
Length of 24 cm, weight of 260 g, females heavier than males. Small round head, small bill. Head grey with white chin. Rest of plumage dark brown-grey with lighter belly.

Range and habitat
Central and south America, from south Mexico to central Brazil and Bolivia. Found in dry and humid tropical forests, plantations, up to 1700 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is still locally common to abundant, especially in Central America. Vulnerable to deforestation and hunting locally, but legally protected.
