Identification
Adults can reach a body length of 41 cm for a wingspan of 91 cm and a weight of 340 g. Slim body, small weak bill, yellow with black tip, white eyes. Plumage brown, rufous-orange on wings and tail, white on belly. Head greyish.

Range and habitat
The species lives in South-East Asia from Myanmar and nearby south China to Cambodia and South Vietnam. Also found on Java and Sulawesi, Indonesia. Lives in woodlands, often near water, sometimes plantations, up to 1500 m.

Status : The species has a large range but has declined dramatically in some areas (Indonesia, China) because of habitat loss and hunting.
