Identification
The species can grow to 23 cm long for a weight of 85 g. Brown-red cheeks, white ear patch, blue forehead, dark crown and breast with V-shaped white edges on breast and neck feathers. Dark red patch on belly, red bend of wings.

Range and habitat
This species is found in northern South America, from Venezuela (south of Orinoco river) and Guianas to Brazil north of Amazon river. Lives in humid and flooded forests, savanna forests, mostly in the forest canopy.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is locally common inside forests. With deforestation becoming a greater threat, the species is likely to undergo a decline of at least 25%.
