Identification
The species can grow to 35 cm for a weight of 218 g. Mostly green plumage with slight pale yellow tinge on belly. Red flecks and spots on neck, cheeks and bend of wing. Subspecies with head color matching breast color, clearer green.
Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs from Venezuela and Guianas to most of Brazil, east Bolivia and Peru. Subspecies also found in east Ecuador and northwest Brazil. Lives in forest edges and nearby savannas, gallery forests, woodlands, to 2500 m.

Status : The species remains common to locally abundant but it is captured in big numbers in Argentina and Venezuela, posing a possible threat.
