Identification
Green plumage, yellow tinge on wings, bright red undertail. Upper back, breast and head bright blue. Grey eye-ring, black bill with dark red spot. Subspecies with little to no red on breast.
Range and habitat
Subspecies found from east Colombia and Bolivia to Guianas and northeast Brazil. Occurs in humid and wet forests, deciduous woodlands, plantations and semi-open areas, to 1600 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : One of the commonest parrots in its range. Not affected by the trade at this time despite the number of specimens traded each year. Subspecies common and well bred under human care.
