Identification
Adults can grow to 28 cm in length for a weight of 102 g. This subspecies has a green plumage, yellow-tinged belly with orange flecks, brown cheeks and upper throat, orange area around eyes and on forehead, blue crown.
Range and habitat
Subspecies found in southeast Venezuela, southwest Guianas and nearby north Brazil. Species occurs from Panama to Guianas and north Brazil. Lives in savannas and semi-arid areas with Acacia and cacti, to 1200 m.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species can be abundant in its range but some insular subspecies near Venezuela are threatened by habitat loss and capture for trade.
