Identification
Adults can reach 37 cm in length for a weight of 141 g. Black face with white eye-ring. Most plumage is green with slight yellow tinge on belly. Blue tail feathers, bluish flight feathers, turquoise band on breast, red thighs, orange nape.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in South America, from South-east Bolivia and nearby south-west Brazil through central Paraguay to North Argentina. Lives in gallery forests, isolated palm stands in savannas and pastures, to 800 m.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is very common and expanding its range in Argentina because of agricultural practices. Considered locally as a pest, traded in big numbers.
