Identification
Adults can reach a length of 36 cm for a weight of 400 g. Plumage yellowish-green, darker on wings. Large yellow patch on nape. This subspecies has little yellow on forehead, dark bill and no red on bend of wing.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from south Mexico to East Costa Rica. Species also occurs from Honduras to Nicaragua and on Roatan Island. Lives in semi arid and arid woodlands and scrublands, also swamp forests.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED

Status : The species has experienced important declines throughout its range because of habitat destruction and intense trapping for international trade.
