Identification
Bright orange bill. Subspecies with brown head and blue forehead, very thin yellow-green band on nape, bright red breast with thinner and more even black barring. Red not reaching upper belly.
Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs on Karkar island, Bismarck Archipelago, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. Found in all kinds of forests, woodlands, savannas and plantations, to 2400 m.

Status : The species still has a large range but is declining on many islands (especially in Indonesia) because of trapping for the trade and locally habitat loss.
