Identification
Plumage green, yellow tinge on belly, grey-blue head with broad black chin bar, long blue and green tail. Red bill. Subspecies with black lower mandible, brighter pink breast, more blue on face.
Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs on mainland Asia, from north India to south China and Hainan, to south Thailand. Found in deciduous forests, mangroves, woodlands, plantations and suburban parks.
Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Mainland Asian subspecies is declining because of extensive habitat loss and trapping to a lesser degree. Some Indonesian subspecies are likely being wiped-out by trapping.
