Identification
Adults can grow to 31 cm in length for a weight of 245 g. Black bill and legs. Plumage green with yellow-green streaks on front parts and nape. Black head with red forehead. Subspecies with green-yellow streaks on nape.
Range and habitat
Species found throughout New Guinea and on Aru Islands. This subspecies occurs in south-west and south-central New Guinea. Lives in savannas, forests, swamps, mangroves and plantations, to 800 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species is still common in the wild and occurs in large flocks. The levels of trade for this species need to be monitored.
