Identification
Adults can reach 30 cm in length for a weight of 285 grams. Thick white bill with bright orange cere. Bluish eyes. Subspecies mostly green with yellow tinge on breast and head, tail greenish-grey, grey band on back, purple wing spot.
Range and habitat
Subspecies found from Angola to Zimbabwe. Species occurs from Senegal to south Ethiopia, southwards to Namibia and Zimbabwe. Lives in a wide variety of forests and wooded savannas, mangroves, to 2200 m.

Status : The species is common to abundant in many parts of its range. It has been declining locally because of habitat loss, although it is normally adaptable.
