Identification
Adults can grow to 37 cm in length. Medium-long tail, small creamy-grey bill, dark red feet. Coloration rich reddish-brown, darker brown on wings and tail. Pink iridescence on breast and neck, inconspicuous dark barring on breast.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Indonesia, in western and central Sumatra, most of Java, Bali, Lombok, Kangean Islands and north Borneo. Subspecies found on Java and Bali. Lives in primary and secondary forests, wooded cultivated areas, to 1500 m.
