Identification
The species is growing to 74 cm in length for a weight of 2.3 kg. Global coloration greyish-blue with white wing patch edged with dark purple. Light purplish-pink breast. Easily identifiable by its crest feathers which are tipped white.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in most of northern New Guinea, including in Irian Jaya. Species also found on Yapen and Biak Islands. Occurs in both dry and swamp forests, generally in lowlands, up to 500 m.

Status : Species declining because of habitat loss and hunting for food and its feathers. Now absent from large tracts of forests, only found in remote areas.
